2017 Rosé

2017_Abba_Rose_Front_Whitebackground

A new exciting addition to the portfolio. We picked 1 ton of Grenache early with the aim of producing a whole cluster pressed Rosé. The fruit went straight into the press where it was left on the skins for about an hour before being gently pressed. Bottled mid-February, totally unfined and unfiltered, so there is a slight haze which will settle out some sediment. This is for acid lovers.

The aroma is classic, appealing Grenache Rosé: watermelon, blood orange, strawberry, peppercorn. Taste more of the same, but more constricted and subtle. Acidity and a talc-like savory quality take the lead. Tang, citrus and background red fruits on the finish. Ultimately, this falls into my REAL DRY category. That said, the red fruit flavors peak through more than most real dry ones. (Grenache just wants to be fruity!) This is 100% Grenache from the Lodi appellation.”
